Carter's 1st Stitches
Carter fell off the neighbor's rock wall (about 8 feet!) and fell on his chin on the one small area of the lawn where there is still ice. At least he broke his fall with his hand and knee, or it would have been a lot worse. There was blood everywhere. When we used the word "stitches", he completely came un-glued--screaming, begging, pleading. . .lots of drama--but we felt like it was a pretty deep cut. I was surprised by his reaction--I thought he would think it was cool to get stitches. He shook the whole way to the ER. Once we were there, he calmed down and was great. He was freezing so I requsted a blanket while we waited for the numbing medicine to take effect--they brought him a heated blanket, which Carter absolutely loved. The Dr. had a hard time finding enough skin to stitch to--it was kind of a mess, but she managed to get 5 good stitches. Please don't look at the photos if you can't handle a little blood:

Ok, that looks a little brutal. Sorry Carter...Doesn't look like much fun. Nice camera work Megen. Carly is about to puke right now!!
Now aren't you glad you had the camera. I am, those are great pics!!! I was really surprised Carter was not jumping for joy at the thought of stitches, he reminds me of the kid that would love them.
