Another Michael Story

On Sunday, as we were heading for church, Michael always puts on Sounds of Sunday. We make fun of the songs because some are just. . .well, you know. . .lame. I don't know why he turns it on if he know we are going to make fun of it, but I guess he figures it's better than rock music, silence or fighting. Anyway, there was a song being sung by a woman--really intense--then some other female back ground singers came in to harmonize. Michael said, "Hey everybody, it's Wilson Phillips" Just imagining. . .

Mini Grocery Carts

K, I was at Smith's on Saturday night and this old man was ahead of me. As I was putting the car seat into my cart, I noticed him take one of those mini carts for children (you know, the kind that look just like a regular steel cart but much smaller--not the car kind). Anyway, he took it and headed on his way, ready to shop. He must have thought those carts were for people who didn't need very much. I can't get the image out of my mind.

Michael is funny

Hey married people, do you sometimes get so used to your spouse that you forget how funny they are? Michael makes me laugh a lot but in the last week, he has made me double over a couple of times with his comments. The other night, all we could dig out for treats were some leftover Oreo type cookies from Walmart--the package was breaking, they were stale and actually burnt. Michael goes, "Are these those Faded Glory brand cookies?" (Just in case someone that doesn't shop regularly at Walmart is reading this, Faded Glory is their casual clothing brand) I laughed pretty hard. Then, last night, Nick was finishing up his take home math quiz and as he was headed up for bed he commented on how he didn't know some of it and was frustrated and would probably get a bad score. Well Michael, instead of offering words of encouragement or advice just said, (as he laid on the chair watching TV) "Just befriend the Chinese kids, Nick--that's how you get through math!" Great talk hun.

Random April Stuff:

Looks like we have a tooth!

More happy pictures:

In the bath ring:

After a long day at Nick's baseball game in American Fork. What a great traveler--just whatever is great with him! Quick note about the game--it was so windy in AF that I didn't get my camera out for photos of Nick--we have the whole season for that. But, Papa and Grandma Lynne came right when Nick went in so perfect timing. They got to see the kids (and the kids got to see them!) and my mom snuggled with Jamie in the car so I didn't have to be in the wind with him. Miracle: Jamie was sitting on a blanket--I stood up with him cuz my back was hurting. Next batter hit a foul ball, low screamer right across the blanket through the exact spot Jamie was sitting. . .Our neighbor said we must be living right. . .

Hangin' with the boys:

Little Mowgli pre-crawling:
(He looks like he is on Jungle Book. I love the tongue-out concentration.) None of my babies have done this on-the-toes thing. It's pretty funny. He cannot actually go forward like this--he just gets up, then goes back on his knees, then on his tummy.

What a cute bum!!!

Easter

Coloring Easter Eggs on Saturday night--This was painful for me--not in the mood--but I did it so the kids would feel like I sometimes do fun things. It ended up being fun. I still don't know why you add vinegar to some colors and not to others. Whatever.

Beautiful. I discovered a couple of days later that everyone loves egg salad sandwiches. Easy, fast and cheap. Awesome.

Easter morning--Jamie got visited by the Easter Bunny with new bottles. He was thrilled. Cute new outfit too!

Loves the bucket:

Now the grass:

Carter and Mallory got a fun hand held device that tracks your exercise, then lets you convert the exercise points into games on the computer. After playing with them for a while, Carter figured out that you can just shake it and rack up a ton of points. That is cheating. He did go on a 2.5 mile walk with us and a bunch of neighbors so I guess I need to give him credit for that.

Mallory in her darling new Easter dress:

All the kiddos pretending to be happy even though we are in a mad dash for church.

Spring Break in St. George

Michael had meetings in St. George on the Mon & Tues. BEFORE spring break, so the kids got a whole week off. (Pretty fun, but now we are paying for it by having to catch up in school.) The first day we were there, we hiked at Snow Canyon--the kids begged to stop at the sand dunes instead, but we wanted to go where the rocks were--much cleaner. They ended up loving it. We topped off the evening by visiting Michael's sister, Diane and her family and then eating at In and Out--everyone's favorite. For the rest of the trip, we swam at the hotel pool and shopped. It was Jamie's first time swimming ever--he was skeptical at first and then seemed to really like it. The weather was great, which was a huge bonus since the forcast was cold, windy and cloudy. So, we felt lucky.

General Conference

Michael and Nicholas got the chance to attend the Priesthood session of conference at the Conference Center. Our home teacher, our former bishop and now 1st counselor in the State Presidency got the tickets for them. All the men in my family also got tickets so we joined with everyone for dinner at the Sky Box at the Gateway. It was a great evening. Nick really enjoyed it and he and Michael had a great father/son time. While they were there, I joined the girls and kids at the Children's museum at the Gateway--Carter and Mallory absolutely loved it. They also loved being with cousins. After Sunday conference, we headed for St. George--great weekend!
